Refuge

As you go through today, just remember that God already sees your path and He is going before you.
Trust Him to protect you and to keep you safe.
Sheltered in the refuge of His wings.

They Said, "I Do!"

Photobucket
I second shot a wedding with Color Me Happy Photography last weekend and am editing shots now. Simple though this may be - it is one of my favorite shots from the wedding. Probably because of the starfish in the foreground and the cross in the background. You know I am always looking for those cross shots! Stay tuned for more to come :).

Cedar Key, 2012

Photobucket
Just spent a few days in Cedar Key. Lots of sun, heat, water, and fun.  Hope to post more pictures soon.
Right now my editing is being hampered by Tropical Storm Beryl. Not good!
Photobucket
We certainly had a good time, although we would have liked to stay another week or so - hahaha!
Didn't know this storm was coming through, it's probably a good thing we aren't still there.
Cedar Key hasn't historically done well with storms!

Everglades, 2012

Photobucket
Mark, Mike, and Bill just returned from their annual 2-day fishing trip in the Florida Everglades.
This year they took along Tony - he's new to this annual jaunt.
Were they successful? Uh, yeah!
All I can tell you for sure - this was only a portion of what they brought home! Good job, guys!

Welcome to Shamu Stadium

Photobucket
It's a new show in the Shamu Stadium - - - it's called One Ocean.
Photobucket
This particular day the show included five killer whales.
Photobucket
They were very impressive. Such a wonder to see something so huge, jumping completely out of the water.
Photobucket
It was like they were playing!
Photobucket
This was my favorite photograph from our day at Sea World!
Photobucket
I wonder how many pounds of fish it takes in treats to get through the show?
Photobucket
Photobucket
One huge difference we noticed in this show was that the trainers no longer get in the water with the whales.
They used to swim with the whales and ride them around the tank.
This was as close as the trainers came to getting in the water.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
The sun was starting to set, hence the pinks in the water and the pink/red reflecting on the whales in some of the pictures.
Photobucket
The whales still kick up the water - soaking anyone in the bottom section of the stadium - the splash zone.
Photobucket
He is literally spitting water out of his mouth - hahaha!
Photobucket
How can something this huge seem so graceful?
Photobucket
Another favorite photograph.
Photobucket
And, of course, they waved good-bye to us at the end of the show :).
Photobucket
Then we headed out to the parking lot to head back to the hotel. What a beautiful sunset!
If you haven't been to Sea World lately, you should definitely check it out!

And On the Fifth Day God Created the Creatures of the Sea

Photobucket
Not long ago, I won some annual passes to Sea World in a local auction. We hadn't been to Sea World in years.
We had a great day there recently!
Photobucket
The dolphins were a lot of fun! They were circling around - splashing and playing - while they were waiting to be fed.
Photobucket
I was pretty happy with some of the photos I got.
Photobucket
We laughed as we watched them play!
Photobucket
And, they had a little competition for the fish the trainers were throwing out over the water. Photobucket
Then we went inside to the lower level where we could see the dolphin swimming.
I don't really have a clue how to take underwater shots, these were the best of what I took.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Next, we headed over to the sea lion tank. This was the coolest bird! And I have no idea what kind he is, except fluffy and pretty!
Photobucket
The sea lions weren't exactly happy with the birds getting part of their fish the crowd was feeding to them - hahaha!
Photobucket
I never realized how loud sea lions could be! Unbelievable!
Photobucket
Then there was this little guy - sitting there all alone - waiting - and waiting!
Photobucket
This is a close-up of the water in the photo above. I loved the way the sun was shining on the water -
making little starlight points in the sparkles! More photos to come soon from our day at Sea World :).

Dive Bombing. Who Knew?!

Photobucket
So, we spent a few days at Cedar Key last week. It had been miserably hot here at home, so we thought a few days in the water would be awesome! Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell the weather man. The highs were in the low to mid 70's the entire time we were there. So we had to content ourselves with looking at the water.
Photobucket
There were a load of pelicans - down by the pier. Pelicans and seagulls.
Photobucket
The pelicans just kind of took on a life of their own.
Photobucket
They would swim around in the water.
Photobucket
Watching and waiting . . .
Photobucket
. . . then all of a sudden they would lift their wings . . .
Photobucket
. . . lift out of the water . . .
Photobucket
. . . take off like a shot . . .
Photobucket
. . . circle around and ...
Photobucket
. . . nose dive straight into the water. (It looks like the bird to the far left is laughing at the other one - haha!)
Photobucket
Over and over and over again.
Photobucket
We watched as bird after bird did this, then rose straight out of the water to circle around and do it again. Many times they had small fish in their bills.
Photobucket
Then they'd fly straight under the pier, and do it all over again. What a show they put on! And I love this last shot I got with the new lens Mark got me awhile back! Lots of fun, even though it wasn't spent swimming as we had planned. Kali and I did get in the pool a couple times, but after our lips turned blue we got back out again - haha!

Sam, Shannon - Here's Some More :)

Photobucket
I was talking with my nephew Sam on the cell phone today and he told me that he and his wife enjoyed the picture I posted of Cedar Key. (See my last post.) I laughed because I only had time to edit those two shots before my mom got sick and I had to leave home.
Photobucket
Well, I am home for the night and thought I'd post a few more. This is the street along the waterfront of Cedar Key. (Actually the street is shown in the next photo, but I am too tired to fix it.)
Photobucket
Many of the shops have closed up since we were last there. I was really disappointed.
Photobucket
There's always something incredible to see down by the waterfront.
Photobucket
This is my favorite place - hands down! I love Frog's Landing! The sign is a little worse for wear since our last trip, but nothing had changed with the menu!
Photobucket
The decorations are awesome and definitely in keeping with the area.
Photobucket
Except maybe for this guy - lol!
Photobucket
This is their staircase leading up to the second floor where Frog's is located. (Actually, I took this shot coming out - so it is the staircase leading down from Frog's to street level :).)
Photobucket
I love the colors . . .
Photobucket
. . . and all the lines. And the crab bisque! And the chicken/walnut/grape/raisin/pineapple/cranberry salad. Yummo!
Photobucket
Then there are other restaurants and empty buildings.
Photobucket
Photobucket
As you move along the waterline, you start to see places like this. Little houses dotting the waterways here and there. Fishing shacks - really not much more to them than that.
Photobucket
It was a calm day as you can tell by the reflections in the water.
Photobucket
And every once in awhile, you get the chance to see something incredible. Like this. Cedar Key - in the summer. It's the place to be.
Photobucket
This is also my You Capture post for this week. We were able to post photos of anything special to us. To see some more - just visit I Should Be Folding Laundry.
