Last night I posted some shots from the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Here are some photos taken in the Water Gardens there.
There are four waterfalls in the Water Garden. Everything was landscaped and organized so beautifully - it made getting great pictures so simple. I do wish my son Jason had been with me, though. He knows a technique that makes this water flow like milk over the side of the falls, I really need to get him to teach me that.
The same waterfall from the other side. Not big waterfalls like you get up north, but for us down south this is pretty cool.
The trail winds around until you get to this pond. There is a beautiful bridge you can walk out onto and stand looking out over the lily pads and the koi.
It was feeding time when I got there. One of the workers had just sifted food out over the water, so I got to watch the fish eat :).
It was interesting to watch as they came right up out of the water to grab the food off the top of the pond. I didn't realize that koi had whiskers/feelers like catfish.
These cool lily pads are called Water Platters. They originate in the Amazons and are the world's largest lily pads.
Now, these are the kind of lily pads I'm used to!
The Botanical Gardens were beautiful. I'll post a few more pictures another time. I enjoyed it so much, for $45.00 I bought a family annual pass. That way I can go back as many times as I want to :). And take all the pictures I want to.
